Welcome to From Mother Tongues of Father Lands. This audio walk connects two places in Berlin: the vibrant Maybachufer and the quieted surroundings of Oyoun – a cultural space once full of life, recently closed as a result of funding cuts in the arts. It moves through voices and silences, through language, presence, and the echoes of what might now be missing. What you hear is rooted in everyday life – market conversations, footsteps along the canal, the hush behind closed doors. Sounds and spaces that linger. Places in transition. And in between: traces of belonging, migration, and transformation.

Which voices shape the city? Which are heard – and which go unheard, without room to be spoken?

You are invited to walk, to listen, to take part in this unfolding moment. There is no right pace. No fixed meaning. Only this shared space – and what may emerge within it.
